    Anyways, yeah. Bought an Evo 3 because it is most dominant on the downhill.

    Before buying the car my friend went and looked at it for me and said definitely bring a new filter. Luckily I had one. It was also mentioned to me by the previous owner that the car had a rough idle.

    When I showed up, did it ever need a new filter!

    And when I removed the filter, I found big chunks over the honeycomb of the MAF. So, I was like wow it would be funny if this fixed it... and fix it it did!

    Not long after I was heading to my friends house for an inspection, prior to the OOP inspection. Found loose nuts in engine bay, a bunch of loose bolts, good stuff.

    Made it to the OOP fine, surprisingly passed, and found some goodies along the way.

    The car has: hks intake, double diverter valve, an apexi exhaust, crazy catch can, pvc hood prop, JIC Magic coilovers, cusco front and rear sway bars, sway bar endlinks, fresh ish poly bushing kit, underbody bracing that runs north-south on the car, double bracing in the rear, cusco front strut bar, a bolt in roll cage, a whole whack of gauges, some that work some that don't, some like 0-60 thing?, some insane short shifter, momo steering wheel, some old bride seats, braided brake lines, project mu pads, and a set of enkeis. It also has two flippy switches I don't know what they do. Measure for crank walk before buying and the crank doesn't move at all. It is seriously a relic of 90's Japan and something about it just seems so cool to me. It was like at first site. Mechanically, the car is tight.

    After the OOP, met some friends at Dorinku... somewhere along the way my front signal light fell out and got lost.

    It made the trip back to slave like like a champ! 8.5L/100. Parked it and went back to work.

    Impressions! Pretty great car. It drives very solid, feels planted, and has a ton of character. It feels very light, and is much more tail happy than the 6. The body though, is rough. The flares aren't fastened well, trunk has tape over the bolt holes, dent in the trunk, rust on the roof. Needs a lot of love cosmetically. At this point I think I will focus on cleaning up the body of the car.

    Evo fam steps up once again! Since signal light fell out on highway, @pitty was all "Oh, I have a box of evo 3 parts you can have."

    I like this car, and driving it has kind of helped me with deciding the direction I would like it to go. So far I have found a new drivers seat, and have plans to be rid of those flares for something more... tasteful? The way the rear arches have been rolled basically I am stuck with flares on the car, which is okay because I should be able to run some pretty wide (for an evo 3) tires.

    The whole gang together, I also got to drive the 6 this weekend and was reminded how great it is. Like, it is just so perfect.

    I have on order: driver seat, factory evo 3 rear wing, evo 6: rear bumper, skirts, flares, front fenders, brembos, knuckles/hubs. She needs some love but the car has so much potential.

    Ordered some flares.. as there is no coming back from that in the rear arches. Ideally, I could just put the car back to stock, but whatever. Super tidy stock ones are selling from 24-45k right now.

    Oil change was due in May 2016, at 137xxx km. Currently the car just cracked 134xxx km.

    So I think it probably came over in later 2015, early 2016 and sat parked. True relic of 90's/ early 00's tuning in Japan as most of the mods seem done around the same time period. Neat.

    New bits, if I had one thing I would like to improve on the car, a little earlier spool would be a big improvement to the drive ability of the car.

    Apex-i... ahh, whatever. Japan exhausts are never that big, this one is like 2 5/8", but it will be a big improvement over the factory exhaust, that looks like press bent 2" pipe. But, apexi, to match the cat back. For DSM, lots of exhaust options, for Evo 1-3, Japan only options. I have a MAP front pipe on the 6, but they don't make anything for the 1-3... not many American companies do.

    Originally I ordered an autobahn88 turbo elbow. Waited a couple weeks, didn't hear anything. Emailed them. Didn't hear anything for another week, emailed them again. Another week, 4th email to find that it was out of stock / production. So, bit the bullet and got a JMFab turbo elbow. I emailed JMF and asked if they had any promotions going on, if they would use someone other than UPS to ship, and they basically said not at this time.

    Found that Map was having a 10% customer appreciation sale or something. That code wouldn't work for the front pipe so I emailed them to see if there were any other promotions, so they gave me another 10% off thing, and ship with Fedex. In total, saved like 40$ or something sending some emails.

    Yesterday, received an email from UPS about a shipment. Oh no. Disaster. MAP must have drop shipped directly from JMF, and just ate the extra UPS cost. Showed up today and customs / duties / brokerage was only 30$, so that isn't so bad.

    Cusco underbody brace. I am amazed the car didn't have that already. It seems like it has every bit of bracing you can buy, but no underbody brace. Also, where available, the PO seemed to really like Cusco bits. So, I thought I would continue that trend.

    When i was ordering that, I also found this Cusco brake stay, thought ah, fuck it may as well. I will be putting Brembos on the car, so maybe this is a good preemptive move.

    And, skateboard bearing bushings arent a thing for the 1-3, these were cheap and combined shipping, cool bit of kit. There is some slop in the shifter, these will help that. And it has some short throw, that I am hoping is adjustable because it is too short lol.

    Last time I was home I also literally gave the underneath a sponge bath, very happy with how clean it is under here.

    Also, I was wondering what that ready rod was for, and realized the car probably had a rear diffusor at some time. Evidence: ready rod, spongey foam tape, hacked off tow hook.

    I also ordered a new driver seat and steering wheel. The guy with that used Bride I was trying to buy... I just gave up on that. Basically he wanted to have a replacement seat before selling that one, and didn't have money to buy the replacement seats. The driver seat I ordered will be correct for the car, and will be mismatched.. but it was mismatched when I got it.

    Ordered a steering wheel as the stitching on the momo one is coming apart and it is too small.
