Well, I started looking for the Elgrand seriously at the end of June. I used Derek as per usual. I found that many had quite a few scratches or chipped glass. I also found the prices hard to predict and ended up losing on around 10 auctions usually by 100 or 200 canadian.
My checklist included 4wd, 3.5l engine, leather or leather/alcantra, all the toys I could get and sunroofs, with low mileage.
I got some of that. No rear screen. No sunroof. Higher mileage than I have ever bought before.
All in all a great looking van though, and seems much newer than 100km

102,000kms. Sept 2003 build (legal in Canada sept 2018)

    Couldnt be more excited.

    Congrats!
All of them have 3.5 L. 102K kms is not much, this engine is using chain, no need to worry about timing belt.

You mean the white van man!

Hey..i have these like...2000.00 dollar speakers left over, of a brand you have never heard of. Super high end. I can let them go for 200.00 but it has to be right now.

Nah. The one in the back is Hunters. The foreground one is mine.
Picked it up, and he wasnt there.
Mini Pajero, 2 Legacies and 2 elgrands there when I got there. Left to get gas, and popped back...lo and behold..another jdm car. Some kind of honda on a truck. Looked like an acura TSX.

It is like they designed the whole thing, then decided it should be 8"-10" taller and just stuck it in the middle section.

Very neat! What kind of fancy do-dads does it have?

    Front cameras
    Rear camera
6 speaker system and minidisc changer (soon to be gone)
    Leather and alcantra seats
8 seater. Middle row spins around. Back row folds up to windows
    Steering wheel audio controls
Radar detector in mirror, that if set to voice, has a great little lady voice that says "ah-speedo-chewy" if it senses radar
Cool features on the screen. Compass. Night view encorporates a star map that changes based on the direction you face...to the constellations you see...all in 2003 graphix. Maintanance log with a "pit soon" message. Fuel consumption and range messaging. Three zone climate control.
Remote control for the back seats for the audio, back zone heating/ ac, light dimming, and sunroof usage (no SR for me though :( )
    Tiptronic shifting
Selectable 2/4wd or auto select and lockable also.
    Power and snow mode
Intellikey..just keep the key in pocket, press buttons to unlock doors, or use the auto open slide doors with a remote button. When you go to start the car, you dont need the key either.
Man too many features to list to be honest. Im pretty impressed.

Ran ito some problems last night on the way up silverstar mountain in Vernon.
CEL and 4WD flashed. Hiccup and loss of power. Kept driving..no CEL.
Parked at hotel. Came out to move to the right spot. Elgrand wouldnt fire. Crank and crank and crank.
Try again and it fires but there is a CEL now, no power steering and mushy brakes. Just what I wanted, when Im up a high mountain road. In the middle of nowhere.
Found the code of 0335 by doing the pedal dance.
Found a common issue on these engines of a crank sensor failing.
    Went to bed.
Phoned everyone I could. Found the part at LORDCO. Could not find anyone to work on it. Changed it muself in the can tire parkong lot.
Cost me 80.00 for the part and 30 for the tools.
Really only needed a 10mm socket with a couple of tool options (screwdriver base and socket wrench base)
Jacked it up a touch on passenger side. Removed the plastic guard. And then removed the clip and sensor. Just at the back of the engine at the bottom. Near where your feet would be in the footwell I guess.

Import era white elgrand and company meet?
    Congrats on the buy!
Does your 2003 have heated seats? That and cruise are the only things I didn't get on mine.
I also have a 300+pg owners manual in English PDF I can send you if interested, just PM me. I'll try upload it to a new thread too.

No heated seats. No cruise. Both would have been great.

No idea. Ill write it up as soon as I get back. LORDCO used some brand i hadnt heard of. "Import parts" or somesuch. I asked for a 2003 350z crankshaft sensor. Lordco didn't give any further choice. Some of the shops i called wanted to know what month it was made..2 part numbers. I dunno. I think they are pretty much the same thing.
