Hey guys, thought id post a small build thread for my new winter beater.

Long story short, I blew my built 2013 focus st up at the track back in October. It is currently parked for the winter while I pull the motor and toss in the new forged block for its journey to 500 + hp.

In the meantime I needed a winter beater.
I decided I wanted something AWD so I started looking at subarus again with the help from Will and JDMConnection. Seems like everyone had a gc8, so I decided on a forester st/b as I wanted something with lots of room. Unfortunately there was some miscommunication and the one I had picked out was sold already. It was at that point another car popped up in auctions that caught my eye.

1998 Legacy GTB Touring Wagon. 101k kilometers, ej206 twin turbo flat four with a 4eat automatic transmission. Car is completely stock except for the stereo. And CHEAP. Exactly what I was looking for!

That color, amirite? Matches my focus!

Pretty decent interiors on these cars.

holy crap look at all those vac lines. /sigh haha
    [IMG]

Look at all that room for hauling car parts!!

Dealing with Will at JDMConnection was quick and painless. If anyone is looking at importing a car and want a worry free experience, go with Will.

The car landed in vancouver on saturday, and is being shipped up here to edmonton.

Now of course no one can keep a car stock for long. I have picked up a few things to spruce it up once I get it:

Gotta keep it looking good, even in the winter, right? Winter setup is a set of ESM 004's (gold hardware, white faces) in 18x8 +35 5x100 wrapped in a set of hakkapalalalakakaka r2's (225/45/18)

And a mock up shot on the focus (almost same color, wheels pop on this color!)

Since I am going to be leaving it stock performance wise (thats what I told my self about my focus, and now I have a 75,000 focus ) I figured Ill put in a nice sound system.

    Picked up this head unit:

I got a wicked deal on it that i couldnt pass up.

Stumbled across another wicked deal on kijiji:

    Sundown audio x10 subwoofer :

    and a sundown audio saz1200d amp :

Picked up both brand new for 500 bucks. WOO.

This sub is massive. Weighs 47 lbs and is rated for 1250 watts RMS.

Nardi deep corn 350mm - black perforated leather with red stitching and an HKB hub to replace the stock steering wheel:

Ordered an HKS Hi Power Silent Exhaust from RHDJapan. Gotta have that subaru rumble:

I also have a turbosmart veeport BOV and a set of autometer nexus gauges Ill probally toss in as well.

Im on the fence for seats, on one hand I am really digging the sparco chrono road seats :

buuuuut the stock legacy seats are suprisingly nice as well (i still have nightmares over how bad the seats were in my 06 wrx)

It'll be a tough choice as I have been spoiled by the seats in my focus (heated leather recaros):

    Welcome to the GT-B club!
Not sure you'll fit in with the rest of us though...I think you're the only one so far that doesn't have a white one ;)

You'll grow to love it. So much for so little $$$
Stock seats are great...I would save your money.
Also, i'm Not sure where you're going to stick that BOV...this is no ordinary turbo setup and personally, I wouldn't mess with it too much. If you do install it, post up an install how-to.

Well it's safe to say your "winter beater" is nicer then others primary car.

Good luck with it and please keep this post updated, I love build threads.

Wow, the body/wheel colour combination is going to look sharp. Absolutely love that Nardi wheel! Can't wait to see updates on your build!

    Thanks for the compliments guys!
The car just got to Williams shop this morning :

Ill be picking it up Wednesday after he does my DRLs and OOP.

The BOV I have is designed for a Subaru TMIC mounting point which should be the same on the legacy.

So far, just looking for some more JDM parts. Roof rack, visors, lip kits etc.

    You only need one.

If you look at an aftermarket intercooler or even the stock one on a BH5 you will see the BPV mounting point, which is the same as a lot of other subarus :

30 lbs of boost on a gtx2867r with cast pistons made the ringlands crack unfortunately.

haha I was fully expecting it. I was making over 150whp than stock.
The motor went 25k kilometers on the stock turbo, and about 1500kms on the gtx2867r haha

I usually go this route with all my vehicles.

Step 1 ) Buy new daily
Step 2) Tell yourself you wont mod it
Step 3) Mod it a little
    Step 4) Mod it alot
    Step 5) Blow it up
    Step 6) Buy new daily

I also have a gsxr600 (that ran a 10.9 @ 132 mph) with mods that I play with during the summer as well, so that as well as the focus project should keep me from doing anything stupid with the legacy! haha
