Backstory - I need something to haul kids and gear in town with the occasional highway trip to Grandma's. The truck's too big/expensive, my Subaru's too small, my old SUV can't fit 3 car seats across easily. Van time.

Decided to import myself (more/less) with Brave rather than use an importer as with previous cars.
This Elgrand came up the second week I started looking. It was 90% what I wanted so we bid a bit low and got it. 100% perfect would've been a Rider with the same options but those aren't legal until October and I want this roadworthy before winter. Won't be here until at least August - partly cause I'm busy and it's not legal until then anyways!

Nissan Elgrand XL - fully loaded
    Grade 4/B
    Single Owner
    ~80 000 kms

    Plans:
    OOP inspection
    - probably needs brakes, tires for sure, DRL's
    Basic maintenance/fluids
    Block heater
    Headunit
    - the XL has a fancy built in unit, so making space for a single din that looks clean will require some fab. Planning on getting one with SD input and DVD out so I can play movies on the rear screen.
New clock to replace the satellite clock
    19 or 20" wheels

    Awesome I love these vans.

Can't go wrong with Marks ability to pick out nice specimens.

Nice, nice, nice! Leather seats look super duper comfy!

Pretty sure, you'll need side markers as well white or orange/yellow on the front sides and red on the back sides.

Ah, forgot about those. There are front orange side markers on the fender but nothing on the rear. Do rear side markers need to be backlit or only reflective?

Found the answer regarding side lights/reflectors. Looks like I'll be adding some red rear reflectors/markers.

    Both are required
    -must be illuminated
    -front is amber
    -rear is red.

    Page 46 here.

and this'll be my "small" city run-about, lol. Beats trying to parallel park the 21' truck in front of the school.

Now i just need to hire a driver cause I want to sit in the back of this thing B)

You can use 2DIN compatible panel to install aftermarket stereo

It appears you can see the red reflector that is part of the red name from the sides.
Also, in Alberta depending on your inspector they seem to be relaxed on stuff like that.

I don't believe you'll need to add any lights.
Those back seats look great! I hope to see this when it gets here.

Good call. I found some on eBay, that'll save me some fab work. Plus I have an extra double din with DVD out that I'll mirror into all the monitors.

I don't know if that part is illuminated, I'll pose the question to my shop that works on my cars. Good find though, thanks!

Good find! Shouldn't need much for OOP at all.
I moved to central Alberta, Red Deer area last year. I had the last couple cars done at Atech before and some work done recently at Lightspeed when I got lazy. They have a farm of JDM vehicles there, mostly long term projects.

Looks like on eBay they are pretty expensive, should be much cheaper from Yahoo Japan. That picture above is from Yahoo listing.

    Headlight options?
I'll likely need something compliant for OOP: e-code, dot/SAE.
This van has D2R hid reflector headlights. A D2S projector retrofit would be perfect if they made one with a dot stamp on it. Otherwsie that'll have to wait until after inspection.
    Options:
    - find a set of lights that kind of fit off a nissan Altima or similar, fab a bracket and hook them up for inspection?
    - find a set of dot stamped projectors? I know halogen ones exist; I've read about skyline guys using them
    - Other ideas?

The Elgrand is home and registered!

I flew into YXX on Monday to drive my new mom-mobile home. FVI was able to pick me up at the airport. Thanks to FVI for the fresh-vehicle-import service! Here's a pic at FVI headquarters next to Ben's twin.

On the road the check engine light came on within a few mins. :(
I reset the code and it went away for good. My guess is it wasn't happy when Ben and I were pulling fuses to hook up my daytime running lights.

On the road from Abbotsford to Stony Plain. Stopped in Kamloops for a sandwich.

Went to my inspection shop for OOP first thing this morning. Passed with no problems. Lots of compliments on how clean this van is. My 2013 Ford has way more rust, and my truck is in great shape!

I bought the van some new shoes for being a good girl and passing inspection. This is probably one of the more aggressive fitments I've doneā€¦I guess I save the best for a minivan, right?
20x8.5 Foose Speed wheels, on 235/35zR20. If I could have gotten a few mils less offset I could fit 245s, but I kind of like the slight stretch and 235s are cheaper.

    Mock up:

Test fit rears. Sliding door clears!

and test fit up front. Fits good, might need a slight roll if/when I go lower.

Up next is removing all stickers and some more detailing. Stereo install to follow shortly as well.
