We're regulated weekly here, but they have an 'interrupter' clause they can use to raise or lower the price outside of the usual Thursday night price adjustment. They used it last week to drop the price 5 cents, and it dropped again on Friday during the weekly adjustment.

I think the shortage may have to do with the fact that it is so cheap. Everyone is filling up while it's low.

No it is definitely supply issues. What the public was told is that a tanker arrived mid-week and the fuel was rejected due to quality. A tanker arrived Friday and that fuel was rejected because it was "winter grade" fuel.

The price drop didn't create any mad dash to the pumps. That only happened after news of a shortage broke.

So for the last 3 months in ontario weve wiggled back and forth from 99-110
But crude has been $40 up to $50 and now back down at $40.

    There is a huge oversupply.

Last year they said its because the refining capacity of low because plants are shut down for maintenance.

    So what now?
    $140 barrel = $1.40 gas

    2013 - cdn $ 0.97 - $106 barrel - $1.30 gas
    2014 -cdn $ 0.89 - $101barrel -
    $1.27 gas
    2015 -cdn $0.75 - $40barrel -
    $1.02 gas??? What the actual F ?

It's essentially bullshit. My theory is that they're losing money on the oil so theyre charging a larger mark up on gas to reduce their losses. Gas was down to 69 cents here last winter and now it's arundel 90-100 yet oil is cheaper than ever. Makes no sense.

They spin a new story every 6 months to justify whatever they are charging.

The reality is they will continue to charge as much as they can in the interests of shareholder pockets.

Hell, just look at Telus, laying off all those people just to increase dividend payments (they were still profitable before the layoffs).

eh ... welcome to business in Canada.

Liking the price of diesel lately. Diesel has been $1.019 while gasoline has been around $1.209. Finally!!! Odd time of year for it though. Usually it's more expensive in the winter. I guess it has to do with the warm weather they've been having back east?
