    Hi there,

So, to import to the US, cars have to be 25 years old or older. Nearly everyone knows that.
However, if you are lucky you can import a newer car under the show and display exception.
Basically, you need to prove that the car you wish to import has historical value, has limited production numbers, and the one(s) you want to import are completely stock. Famously, the limited run of 500 Nismo GT-R32s is importable under this exception. For most cars, this is impossible but people still try to make a petition for cars every year.

I have found a list of cars that failed to be accepted in 2014. These cars are not special enough to get a show and display exception.

Going down the list, it is no wonder why most of these cars don't make the cut. The vast majority of them are not limited production vehicles and the ones that are, are only trim models or have low production due to market conditions.

Interestingly, some people got denied for cars that you could import under the 25 year rule... The CRX and the M3.

I see that every year, there are Skylines added to the list again. The authority who manages the exceptions must get tired of seeing them year after year.

Your Jimmy can come in as long as it was originally sold in the US and has the decal in the door jam. But yeah, why is someone trying to import a Jimmy when they are super cheap in the US already?

95% of them are no brainers but why was the 962RLR denied. That seems like it would fit the criteria well... and there is not much fear of it stealing sales from used cars in the US.. which is the real reason for the ban as far as I am concerned.

Maybe because it's pink, and the guy that wrote the list is super homophobic?

Isn't that car owned by Nick Mason, the drummer for Pink Floyd? Anyhow - that reminds me of this:
