So after looking a million places, over the past couple years. Most not meeting the list of requirements, or else they were way to costly.. This place came, and its a great place. My only complaint is the lack of land (I wanted some Acreage however my lady didnt want to drive more then 40 minutes to get to work) so i got a sweet shop as well. 3 Bed 2 Bath Attached garage (for my ladys car) 700 Square foot attached shop, with 10' door. and 220V plugs for my cars couple nice storage rooms inside Large Porch Large flat back yard. (Pics are from the listing) Hopefully it wont be this messy when i get moved in the shop THe house is from the 70's and has had no real updating done to it.. This is the list of things we are going to do before we move in: Paint every room New flooring in all rooms Gut the upstairs bathroom and put a totally new one in Build a 3rd bathroom upstairs in the master (From scratch) My lady needs a on-suite redo some of the electrical in the shop/storage room move the washer and drier (Lady doesn't like the current location) Install a Patch panel, and run Cat 6 lines to every room in the house/shop and install wall plugs Install a garage Door opener (Added: )New Kitchen (Totally new Yikes) (Added Get new windows all around After we move in: Redo the down stairs bathroom Complete the finishing on the hallway to the shop/storage room Get a 2 post hoist in the shop (YaY)
Keys are Sept 26th. so we have a month to collect things for the renos. not selling my current place.. keeping it for a rental property.
Ben, that's AWESOME! Congrats. You have a lot of work cut out for you there. 'specially before you move in. Such a dream space though, I'm truly jealous - that shop is impressive, off of a house too! I've got to find me a new house..
Looks great! That's quite the list you have there. Are you taking time off work to work on the house, or is this going to be an afternoon and weekend thing? Cool garage, you don't see very many that are that large. Now you can expand into jdm heavy equipment yo. You should get a Fuso car carrier.
afternoon and weekend thing, i get possession sept 26th, but we arent going to move in till the projects are done.. im budgeting a month of time. so hopefully everything goes well and we will move in Late Oct, or early november. Wolf you have no idea.. i want a JDM car carrier so bad..
So My ladys wants to host Christmas Dinner at the new place.. and that means she wants a new kitchen.. Sigh.. looks like we are going to the poor house.. New kitchen is now on the list before we move in.
Bah, as long as it has a working sink, a fridge and some counter space with a microwave and toaster, I'm good with a kitchen Seriously though, good luck with the kitchen reno...friend of ours went through with it a few years ago; theirs took longer than they thought and ended up costing more as well. Doubt you'll have any issues though!
just came up with a new layout plans today.. its going to be interesting, there will be lots of before, during and after pics for sure. ** also the kitchen you mentioned would be fine for me as well.. however mah lady wants a kitchen... Happy wife.... happy.... you get where im going
Congrats hunter. Super jelly of the shop and soon to be hoist. Damn! Two places in the Lower Mainland....I can't even afford one!
Both my places are in aldergrove so pretty cheap places. im sure you make baller enough money to make something work if you really wanted to.. (Since im way underpaid and i mangaged) its all about Debt management. anyways. count down to possession/more pics to come (18 days till i get the keys)
LOL! Everyone thinks I make big money....engineers don't make as much as the public thinks I'm actually making less than before as well. Since I changed onto the construction side of things I don't get any overtime since apparently no one budgets for it. Contractor works 7 days a week, too bad. I have to get all my work done in a 40 hour week... Are you going to be taking on a lot of the renovation work yourself? Got friends that know how to do some stuff? My cousin saved tons of money renovating since they had friends that all had different skills. They traded off and each did work at the other's home. Good deal IMO. I hope I can swing something like that when the time comes.
ya me and my father-in-law are doing all the work. he has experience in everything, and i enjoy learning so im sure it will be good times. are you working mon-fri, living the American Dream
Congrats Ben! Looks awesome, since I'm moving downtown in October, can I rent your shop for an hr every couple of months and do an oil change? haha
Sure buddy, you can come over free of charge, once things are settled. I get the keys friday, and will be updating with before pics.
just got the keys to this place last night. the measuring started.. Pics of the current state to come. moving at shop stuff into the shop this weekend
